Dušan Toroman, pianist on a piano from 1793
guest: Sanja Bizjak
PROGRAM:
Johann Christian and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
For the first time on Somus, an old, very old piano!
Dušan Toroman, one of the greatest connoisseurs of old music and instruments in our country, introduces us to the history and sound of the piano: 1787 is the year. Thomas Twining sits down at his beloved pianoforte. A man of great erudition and particularly refined musical taste, he is one of the few English amateur musicians on whose music desk, in addition to the works of Johann Christian Bach, the undisputed icon of London musical life, there are also the latest editions of Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach, freshly delivered from Germany. Through an imaginary evening in his salon, we will tell the story of two brothers whose paths went in different directions, but who, each in their own way, had an invaluable influence on the further course of musical art. In addition, the Longman & Broderip piano from 1793 will help us enter the sound world of the second half of the eighteenth century and shed light on the historical period in which the piano went from being a curiosity in aristocratic palaces to becoming a popular instrument entering the homes of the middle class.
