Since 2010. Aleksander Kojić is permanent conductor at the Serbian National Theatre, Opera and Ballet in Novi Sad– Serbia and from June 2024. Permanent conductor at the National Theatre Opera in Belgrade.

Born in 1984, Aleksandar Kojić received his first musical education in piano at the age of 5. At the age of 13 he wrote his first short composition for piano. He studied piano for ten years. In the Secondary Music School at the age of 16 he started to sing in the Orthodox church choir and has been regularly singing for ten years. In that period, he wrote some compositions for a capella choir which were used in the church services and it is with the church choir that he gained his first conducting experiences.  

Aleksandar Kojić completed his undergraduate (2008) and specialist (2009) conducting studies at the Belgrade Faculty of Music, and also attended several masterclasses on Opera and symphonic conducting with Riccardo Muti, Uroš Lajovic, Vladimir Kiradjiev. During his studies he formed a student chamber orchestra 'Capella accademica'. A year before graduation he was engaged as the conductor of the Youth Symphony orchestra of the “Isidor Bajić” Secondary Music School and for that orchestra he made numerous arrangements and orchestrations. Later on he made a lot of orchestrations and arrangements for various ensembles. His Ballet in 2 acts “La Dame aux Camélias”, based on the music form Verdi’s La Traviata was programmed for the opening of season 2018/2019 in the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad. 

Interested in reviving forgotten works, in 2015 he made a new orchestration and edition of the forgotten Serbian opera “Prince Ivo of Semberia” by the Serbian composer Isidor Bajić. For that work he has been awarded the Special price of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad. His orchestrations were tremendously well received and after first performance they were very soon performed again with different orchestras.

Aleksandar Kojić has been répétiteur from 2010 and also has the position of the permanent conductor at the Opera and at the Ballet of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, conducting numerous opera and ballet works.

With his vast knowledge of musical literature and work with opera and symphonic orchestras he is capable of improving the orchestra sound and bringing it to a higher level in a very short time. Also, he is often called to step-in, at a very short notice with or without rehearsals.

Kojić has received several awards for conducting new productions  - to name just two, Queen of Spades in 2012 and Simone Boccanegra in 2013).
